Special ... Gifted

I was with my cousins today, just got home actually. We've watched Ms. Gay (a beauty pageant) to give moral support to a friend who was one of the contestants. Ms Gay is one of the most awaited event of the town’s fiesta that’s why though it was raining so hard the show has go on and as expected, the venue (covered court) was jam-packed. The crowd was shouting and so on that you can't even hear yourself when you talk; there was never a moment of silence not even a second. It wasn't a problem then.

Just like any other beauty pageant, the candidates have introduced themselves, posed with their gowns, swimsuits as well as other attires on and presented their talents too (if they have one).

Talent portion was fun and exciting; there was dancing, singing, acting and the best and most unique of all was my friends’ that made him won the best in talent award. He knows all the capital cities and flags of the world (colors, symbols and so on). Volunteer/s from the audience has given the chance to ask him the capital city of whatever country she/he has in mind. With regards to the flags, judges gave brief description or how it looks like and he confidently answered it all. Amazing! We’ve been friends since elementary. I knew how smart and intelligent he was but I never thought he’s got extra talents too. He really was admired by at least half of the viewers but it doesn’t end there. He has also won the judges and the viewers during question and answer portion. He has given a simple yet best and precise answer to the question “Homosexual relationships and heterosexual relationships are equally valid. Do you agree?”.

I have to admit it, my gay friend has nothing more to show compared to the others when it comes to beauty. He's got brains but don't have the looks yet has managed to stay in the competition. He was crowned as 1st runner up “Ms Gay Fire” I think. It's fine then though I'm a bit disappointed.

Green Side

My sister has this book of colors with corresponding meanings on it. I was curios so I scanned it and started reading. I really love the color green which according to the book, is life and signifies growth, renewal, health and so on but on the other hand it also means envy or jealousy as of the green-eyed monster. I also like the colors red, white, gold and blue but not that much. Actually blue was my favorite color way back but now, my collections shows that I’m more attracted to color green; green bag, nail polish, notebook, pen, dress and other unique green stuffs. To add with my green possessions, I have a green thumb too that explains why I'm good in growing things and that whatever I plant will grow.

I've learned that green is the traditional color of Islam; and that the flag of Libya (located in Northern Africa, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, between Egypt and Tunisia) that was adopted on the year 1977, consists of a simple and plain color green with no other sign, design or other details unlike any other flag. The only national flag in the world with just one color and that somehow reflects the citizens’ devotion to Islam. Green was Libya’s national color also and maybe just maybe everyone there loves no other color than the color green.

Anyways being devoted to the color green maybe has something to do with why one of my most admired international bands is Green Day. It’s an American rock trio formed in 1987, the year I was born. Basically, I am in to alternative music with a little bit touch of rock but not the hard core one that could possibly break an eardrum because of the screaming and so on. I like how the band plays their music and genre along with the others: my chemical romance, panic at the disco, fall out boy etc. I’m just so curios why they named their band “Green Day” and I want to ask why? How I wish I could.

As I was saying, I love green and that's it.

Problem Solved?

"Whenever I see girls and boys selling lanterns on the street I remember the child on the manger as he sleep whenever there are people giving gifts exchanging cards I believe that Christmas is always in their heart..." It was the very first song I've heard this morning, reminded me that Christmas is fast approaching. I then remembered to buy presents for my God children and loved ones not because I wanted to receive something in return but because I'm used to it and I love the way they say or express their gratitude. Honestly I don't have enough money to buy expensive gifts though I'd love to. I usually gave simple yet heartily made gifts customize cups, pillows, t-shirts, cards and so on as birthday and Christmas present but for a change, I want something new and unique.

As I was walking inside the mall this afternoon, I've seen lots of possible gifts such as toys and things with nice and super unique designs. How I wish they were as cheap as I want them to be. Sitting on the bench, I saw this young boy holding a balloon with a written message "Mom and Dad love you so much... happy birthday". Upon entering the department store I've seen lots of small red banners with the word SALE written on it. An idea came up to me; I will make customize colorful flags for my family and friends and have them printed with "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" or anything nice since I still have lots of extra art and craft materials. I will just buy affordable candies, toys and clothes for my God children since they will appreciate those much.

Oh how I wish I could be as generous and as abundant as the legendary Santa Claus; so that giving and bringing gifts of every deserving ones on Christmas Eve is not a problem anymore.
